NSW Adventure Bike Tech Skills
HART’s Adventure Bike Tech Course is all about getting you comfortable and confident on your dual-sport or adventure bike. The course is run over one day, on our purpose-built off-road course and covers essential skills for adventure touring.
Description
The course is run over one day, on our purpose-built off-road course and covers essential skills for adventure touring such as:
- Posture – sitting, standing, and using body weight to steer your bike
- Low speed control and balance
- Throttle control and braking on a variety of surfaces
- Ascending and descending hills
- Bike set-up including crash protection, accessories and luggage
- Planning a ride – route selection and safety considerations
The Instructors
Our instructors have extensive dirt bike and adventure touring experience
Prerequisites
- Completing Off-Road Tech 1 is recommended
- P's or above only
- A suitable dual sport or adventure bike (all brands welcome)
- Riders on a restricted licence must ride a LAMS approved motorcycle
- Some off-road experience is helpful, but not essential
Your motorcycle
- Your motorcycle must have full registration and be roadworthy
- We recommend your bike be fitted with hand guards and a bash plate
- Off-road compatible tyres
- All motorcycles will be checked for roadworthiness before the commencement of the course. Motorcycles deemed unroadworthy will not be allowed to be used on the course, and the course fees may be forfeited
- Please advise your insurer of the training you will be undertaking to ensure that your policy will cover third party property damage during the course
Riding gear
- Below is the minimum requirement for riding gear:
- Full-face, preferably Off-Road or Adventure style helmet, AS1698 or ECE 22.05 approved
- Off-road or adventure type motorcycle boots
- Motorcycle gloves
- Motorcycle jacket with shoulder and elbow armour
- Motorcycle pants with knee armour
Because of the types of surface we use during this course, including Sand, Mud, Gravel and Log crossings we recommend off-road biased tyres, e.g. Continental TKC80, Bridgestone TrailWing, Dunlop D606, Kenda 784 or similar.
